A Cloud WAF DDoS Solution with a Cast-Iron Data Sovereignty Guarantee

Imperva’s latest network topology offers unlimited DDoS protection while keeping your data within Australian borders

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Imperva, Inc., the cybersecurity leader championing the fight to secure data and applications wherever they reside, today announced it has designed an advanced new network topology for its Cloud WAF architecture and DDoS mitigation solutions in Australia, providing a cast-iron guarantee that traffic inspection and request logs are maintained within the country’s borders.

Australia has strict data sovereignty laws in place to ensure that customers’ personal data terminates and is inspected in-country only, and that no traffic or security logs move outside the country’s borders. Many cloud-based WAF vendors are unable to offer this in-country guarantee, which has proved to be a blocker for organisations moving to the cloud. In the case of a very large DDoS attack, for example, it presents a challenge by not being able to guarantee that traffic will not be diverted outside Australia and terminated in a foreign country, especially if the DDoS attack is relying on affected proxies within Australia.

Many organisations have been hesitant to make the full transition to the cloud for fear of finding themselves in breach of local data sovereignty laws, but with Imperva’s new ground-breaking topology, they can now benefit from unlimited DDoS protection while traffic inspection and request logs are guaranteed to remain in the country.

According to Chris Wood, RVP Imperva Asia Pacific & Japan: “This latest advancement is going to bring tremendous benefits to our customers. Where previously Australian PoPs were unable to absorb the traffic generated by the largest application layer DDoS attacks, now, thanks to new mesh topology, Australian data traffic will be decrypted and terminated within the Australian network only.”

He adds: “The fact that we can now guarantee that all data logs will remain within Australian borders also, provides that extra layer of reassurance organisations need to transition to the cloud securely without the worry of breaching data sovereignty regulations.”

Imperva DDoS protection mitigates the largest attacks immediately without incurring latency or interfering with legitimate users. Find out more about the solution here.
