CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival Announces Paul Schrader to Receive Award for Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting

Georgetown, Cayman Islands, March 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival (June 18-21, 2015) will present Paul Schrader with the inaugural Award for Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting. The Award will be named The Paul Schrader Award for Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting in his honor thereafter. Schrader is an award-winning screenwriter, film director, and film critic. Schrader wrote or co-wrote screenplays for the Martin Scorsese classics Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Last Temptation of Christ and has directed 18 feature films, including his 1982 remake of the horror classic Cat People, and critically acclaimed dramas American Gigolo (1980), Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985), Affliction (1997) and Auto Focus (2002), as well as The Canyons (2013). Schrader�s most recent film was The Dying of the Light, an espionage thriller starring Nicolas Cage, Anton Yelchin and Ir�ne Jacob. He is currently in production on several films for 2015.

The Tribute will take place on June 20th, 2015 at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman during the festival�s Closing Gala and Awards Ceremony.

This will be run throughout the year with the eventual goal of having a full-time Associate�s degree programme available at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI). Young children will have their own specially designed programmes to inspire and give confidence about their own unique abilities as filmmakers.
