Elliptic Labs Announcing Launch of the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform on HONOR 100 Series Smartphones

OSLO, Norway–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AIVirtualProximitySensor—Elliptic Labs (OSE: ELABS), a global AI software company and the world leader in AI Virtual Smart Sensorsâ„¢ currently deployed in over 500 million devices, has launched its AI Virtual Proximity Sensorâ„¢ INNER BEAUTY® on the new HONOR 100 series of smartphones – the HONOR 100 and HONOR 100 Pro – for the Chinese market. Elliptic Labs’ partner Qualcomm is driving both smartphones in the HONOR 100 series. The HONOR 100 is driven by the newly announced Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, while the HONOR 100 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The contract for this launch was previously announced by Elliptic Labs.

“Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform continues to be selected for more and more HONOR smartphones because of our technological leadership in AI/ML, ultrasound, and sensor fusion,” said Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs. “By adopting the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform, HONOR is able to introduce smartphones with great value, such as the HONOR 100 and 100 Pro, to their broad customer base. Our commitment to delivering both value and innovation plays a crucial role in enabling our customers to offer products that are greener, smarter, and more human-friendly.”

AI Virtual Proximity Sensor INNER BEAUTY

Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor detects when a user holds their phone up to their ear during a call, allowing the smartphone to turn off its display and disable its screen’s touch functionality. This keeps the user’s ear or cheek from triggering unwanted actions during the call, such as hanging up or dialing numbers. Turning off the screen also helps conserve battery life.

Proximity detection is a core capability that is used in all smartphones, but Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor is a unique, software-only solution that delivers robust proximity detection without the need for a dedicated hardware sensor. By replacing hardware sensors with software sensors, the AI Virtual Proximity Sensor reduces device cost and eliminates sourcing risk.
