Empowered Program Features Active Adventures, Specialists in Guided Adventure Travel

Active Adventures, experts in small group vacations, empower solo travelers to find the freedom to fulfill their dreams of adventure with the assurance that everything is taken care of.

QUEENSTOWN, New Zealand–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Solo travelers are the focus of a new Empowered educational series Solo Travel – Safety & Guided Experiences hosted by Meg Ryan launching January 2024, featuring Active Adventures— fully-guided small group adventure travel specialists.

“About 30-40% of our guests are solo travelers,“ says Wendy van Lieshout, CEO of Active Adventures. “Joining one of our guided small group vacations gives people the courage to explore new places and try new things in a supportive environment.”

“Our guests like the sense of freedom from getting out of their comfort zone,” says van Lieshout. “They may have partners who don’t like to travel as much but enjoy sharing experiences with others. Our guests make lifelong friendships on our trips because they can be free to be themselves.”

Starting almost 30 years ago in New Zealand, Active Adventures has outdoor adventure vacations in the most breathtaking regions of the world including New Zealand, Patagonia, Peru and Galapagos, Europe, the Himalayas, Africa, and through sister brand Austin Adventures, North America and specialty family adventures.

Wendy van Lieshout explains, “Our itineraries have been perfected from decades of experience and cater for solo travelers, couples, and friend groups as well as trips specifically designed for families too. We’re small enough to understand our guests’ individual needs before they travel. Our personal outreach program includes at least three calls with each guest ahead of their trip. Yet we’re big enough to get the scale to offer great value for money.”

Features particularly in tune with solo travelers’ needs include:

• All logistics are organized; accommodation and most activities and meals are included, taking the hassle out of planning the perfect vacation
• Confidence to select the ideal trip: our service team assists guests to choose based on aspirations and preferences — destination, activities, interests, and fitness level
• Small groups and industry-leading average 6:1 guest-to-guide ratio enable a more personal experience, and more support to achieve activity goals; usually two/three guides per trip
• Strict safety protocols managed by the guides and operations team enable guests to relax and have the best time
• Opportunity to share experiences with other like-minded travelers
• No mandatory single supplement.
