Peak Energy Appoints Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Stonepeak-backed platform names industry veterans Gavin Adda, Geoffrey Jahnke as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer

SINGAPORE & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Peak Energy Investments Ltd. (“Peak Energy”), a platform dedicated to the development, ownership, and operation of renewable assets in Asia, today announced the appointments of Gavin Adda as Chief Executive Officer and Geoffrey Jahnke as Chief Operating Officer, effective November 1, 2023. Both join from TotalEnergies (NYSE: TTE) Renewables Asia, where Gavin previously served as CEO, and Geoffrey previously served as COO / CFO.

Peak Energy was formed in 2020 by Stonepeak, a leading alternative investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets, as a dedicated platform to develop, construct, and operate renewables projects across Asia. The platform is led by a seasoned management team comprising professionals from major developers with extensive experience sourcing, developing, and managing renewables projects. To date, Peak Energy has developed two fully operational assets: Project Minamata, a 28 MW solar project in Kumamoto, Japan, and Project Iceberg, a 100 MW solar project in South Korea which is one of the largest in the country. Combined, these assets are expected to result in the avoidance of 144,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, or the equivalent of taking ~25,500 passenger vehicles off the road for a year, underscoring the important role Peak Energy has the potential to play in advancing the region’s energy transition.

“Gavin and Geoffrey will help lead Peak Energy into its next stage of growth as the platform seeks to expand its footprint in Japan, South Korea, and the ASEAN region,” said Ryan Chua, Senior Managing Director at Stonepeak. “Both Gavin and Geoffrey have long-standing track records as expert developers, operators, and business leaders and are well-connected to the broader renewables landscape in the region. We are excited to have them on board and we look forward to seeing the results of their thoughtful stewardship of the platform’s expansion.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining Peak Energy, especially at this exciting juncture in the platform’s growth,” said Gavin Adda, incoming Chief Executive Officer of Peak Energy. “Asia is a great place to be investing in renewables, as more countries set ambitious targets for the energy transition – including Japan and South Korea, where Peak Energy is currently invested, but also other nations across the ASEAN region and beyond. I believe Peak Energy is uniquely positioned to drive the future development of the renewables markets, and I’m very excited to work with the Stonepeak team to deliver more renewables projects that will serve present and future generations across the region.”

Geoffrey Jahnke, incoming Chief Operating Officer of Peak Energy, added, “With an outstanding team in place, deeply embedded principles of excellence, integrity, and agility, and continued support from Stonepeak, a trusted partner for critical infrastructure businesses around the world, Peak Energy has all of the right tools to become an example in the industry and make a meaningful difference in the region’s energy transition. I am excited to dive in alongside Gavin and the rest of the Peak Energy team as we work to create more sustainable futures, together.”
