Project for Love Expands Compassion-Based Education in Africa

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – African Media Agency (AMA) – 9 July 2025 – Project for Love, a global education movement rooted in loving-kindness and compassion, is expanding its impact across Africa. Building on its work in South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda, the organization has now launched local partnerships in Uganda and Tanzania to further its mission of transforming education through empathy and service.

Founded by international humanitarian Eduardo Said Pichardo Gelly, Project for Love champions a simple yet powerful philosophy: lasting happiness comes from serving others. This belief guides its work in underserved communities across Africa and Asia, where it supports school infrastructure, teacher training, and the integration of holistic, values-based learning methods.

“I began this journey through the practice of loving-kindness meditation,” says Eduardo Said Pichardo Gelly. “It transformed my view of the world. All happiness comes from the pursuit of others’ happiness, while suffering comes from selfish pursuits. That insight is the foundation of everything we do.”

With a vision to support over 300,000 schools and impact 30 million children worldwide in the next decade, Project for Love places Africa at the center of its mission. It is already on track to directly support over 100,000 schools across the continent.

The initiative’s achievements include revitalizing rural schools, introducing compassion-based curricula, and empowering teachers with tools to foster mindful, emotionally intelligent classrooms. Its focus goes beyond infrastructure—Project for Love aims to shift educational mindsets by prioritizing kindness, fairness, and integrity in every lesson.

To raise future leaders grounded in compassion, Project for Love promotes mentorship, ethical education, and self-awareness. “We are not just reforming education,” says Eduardo Said Pichardo Gelly. “We’re leading a global cultural shift toward shared humanity, kindness, and sustainability.”

The organization is guided by a global board and advisory council of educators, professionals, and spiritual leaders. However, Pichardo Gelly emphasizes that the real heroes are the individuals and communities on the ground who bring the vision to life.
