RAIN RFID Alliance Holds North American Meeting, Announces Membership Growth

Amazon and C&A join RAIN Alliance as industry organization achieves milestone of 120 members worldwide

Online PR News � 19-July-2016 � The RAIN Alliance recently held its annual North American regional meeting in Napa, Calif., hosted by SMARTRAC and Google. members-only workgroups were held, as well as open sessions focused on how RAIN RFID technology is involved in advanced enablement technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). Speakers represented a range of industry-leading organizations, including SMARTRAC, Google, Lenovo Motorola Mobility, Levi Strauss & Co, RR Donnelley, Teslonix, the U.S. Department of Defense, and MEPS Real-Time.

Innovative applications for RAIN technology were on display at the meeting, with 130 attendees. They benefited from an opportunity to see RAIN technology in action during a visit to a Levi Strauss store where the technology is used to improve retail inventory management and customer experience. "After the RAIN meeting last month, we were pleased to welcome new members Amazon and C&A retail apparel stores, bringing the total membership to more than 120 member organizations," said Steve Halliday, president of the RAIN RFID Alliance. "The strong growth of the RAIN RFID industry shows that it really does provide significant business value, particularly as a key factor in connectivity for the first few meters of the Internet of Things."

Membership in the RAIN Alliance is open to all companies that have an interest in RAIN RFID technology, including manufacturers, software developers, system integrators, academia, test houses and end-users. Membership details can be found at www.rainrfid.org/members.
