Recognising Positive Impacts: Elvis & Kresse Honoured Best For The World 2018

This month Elvis & Kresse was recognised for their meaningful work as a leader in the movement of people using business as a force for good. Having made the most positive improvement on its overall impact based on an independent, comprehensive assessment administered by the nonprofit B Lab.

Sittingbourne, United Kingdom, September 20, 2018 –(PR.com)– Elvis & Kresse is honoured in the Best For The World: Changemakers list, which honours positive impact and behaviour change among Certified B Corporations. To certify as B Corporations, companies like Elvis & Kresse must complete the full assessment and have their answers verified by B Lab and re-certify every three years. The Best for the World: Changemakers list honours the improvement made by B Corporations from one certification to the next.

The full B Impact Assessment evaluates a companys environmental performance, employee relationships, diversity, involvement in the local community, the impact a company’s product or service has on those it serves, and more. Honourees making significant improvements in their B Impact score set a gold standard for the impact a company can make in the world.

In 2005 Elvis & Kresse had a chance encounter with the London Fire Brigade. When they learned that London’s damaged decommissioned fire-hoses were headed to landfill they mounted a rescue. Elvis & Kresse was set up to save it. For over a decade none of London’s fire-hose have gone to landfill, over 180 tons of material has been reclaimed and 50% of the profits from their Fire-hose Collection have been donated to the Fire Fighters Charity. Late last year Elvis & Kresse partnered with the Burberry Foundation to tackle the even greater global problem of leather waste. This Five-year partnership will see at least 120 tonnes of leather off-cuts from Burberry recrafted into new luxury items, designed and sold by Elvis & Kresse. 50% of the profits from the leather rescue project will be donated to renewable energy projects.

Kresse Wesling (MBE) on earning a place on the 2018 Best For The World: Changemakers list: “One of the things we always ask ourselves whenever making any business decision, no matter how big or small is ‘Is this business decision bad for other people’s grandchildren? And if the answer in anyway is ‘yes’, then don’t make it. Period. We don’t have time for exploitative, destructive businesses. Those days are gone. I’m incredibly proud to be a part of a larger community that doesn’t only believe in doing good, but also continuously strives to be better.”

Additional 2018 Best For The World: Changemakers honourees include: Community Sector Banking; Fetzer Vineyards; and Future State.

“With the rise of anger at a system that feels rigged, people are hungry for companies like Elvis & Kresse, who are changing the system by building businesses that seek to create the greatest positive impact,” says Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. “Best for the World is the only list of businesses that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance. As consumers, talent and investors increasingly demand transparent, values-aligned businesses to buy from, work at and invest in, companies will need to not just be the best in the world, but the best for the world. And not just to be nice, but to be the most successful.”

A total of nearly 1,000 Certified B Corporations were named 2018 Best For The World honorees, including: Patagonia; King Arthur Flour Company; Green Mountain Power; and the United Kingdom’s Charity Bank. Fifty-two countries are represented, including Denmark, India, South Africa and Taiwan. The winners along with the selection criteria for Best For The World honorees are available at https://bthechange.com

Today there are more than 2,400 Certified B Corporations across more than 150 industries and 50 countries, unified by one common goal: to redefine success in business.
