SHANGHAI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On November 27th&28th, the 4th Sino-German SME Cooperation Forum and the 13th Taicang Day came to a successful conclusion in Shanghai.

BVMW?The German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses?and Taicang Government co-hosted the forum. At the forum, the government and business representatives from China and Germany discussed all parties’ roles and missions in the new ecology of China-Germany cooperation.

The two-day cooperation forum was held in various forms, including the opening ceremony, Sino-German dialogue, and policy interpretation. As the global epidemic is still severe, this year’s Sino-German SME Forum took place for the first time both on site in Shanghai and virtually in Germany. More than 200 government officials and entrepreneurs participated in the forum offline or online.

Many high-ranking guests took part in the event, including Marcus Held, Member of the Bundestag, Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Deputy President and Minister of Economics of Niedersachsen, Yang Zhiping, Deputy Mayor of the City Suzhou, and Shi Mingde, the former Chinese Ambassador to Germany. During the event, the Taicang Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with BVMW and inaugurated the Service Center of BVMW Taicang. Afterwards, Rouven Kasper, President Asia FC Bayern München, delivered a speech about their achievement in China. Representatives from Taicang, German companies, BVMW and other representatives held a round table dialogue on the topic of “Roles and tasks of all parties in the new ecology of cooperation between China and Germany”.

The second day of the forum’s agenda mainly focused on project docking and industry discussion, and experts from various industries had in-depth discussions on opportunities and challenges under the new situation.

The Sino-German SME Cooperation Forum has been a platform for Chinese and German governments, institutions, and businesses to showcase, talk to, and connect since 2017. The event aims to achieve bilateral cooperation, to bring the voices of Chinese and German SMEs into the world, and to explore the new ecology of Sino-German cooperation.

Taicang has become a key center for German companies in China. The first German company settled in the region in 1993 and, during the past 30 years of development, the ancient waterside town has been hailed as the hometown of German companies in China. Taicang will deepen its ties with Germany cities and enterprises.
