The project of TeamDev in competition was carried out in collaboration with the city of Independence in Oregon (USA) and realized during the commemoration of July 4th 2018, the biggest American public event that celebrates the history and institutions of the United States. The Pilot, considered very innovative, was financed by FIWARE, the European business accelerator.

WiseTown is also a partner of the EIT Digital Program, and in that context is implementing the DoNotFear application that deals with participatory security of the citizens in public transport. The project, in collaboration with the TU-Berlin university, offers citizens the opportunity to report places and situations in which they feel uncomfortable or in danger while being in stations or on public transportation. Thus, other citizens and the rescues can support, interact or intervene.

The "WiseTown - Situation Room" solution allowed the public administration of the city to keep under control every sensitive aspect of the event, with particular reference to communication, traffic and security.

The innovative system manages in real time digital data collected from citizen alerts, IoT sensors, open data, georeferenced social media posts, pre-existing data archives, and urban video surveillance. At the same time, citizens have the opportunity to report issues to the authorities through an app, social networks or access to the Issue Manager web portal, created specifically for this purpose.

"Security is always a concern, and we dont have enough people locally to manage an event this large. WiseTown represents an effective way to monitor and support our event operations." - Shawn Irvine, Economic Development Director, City of Independence
