The Marussya Assaubayeva Foundation to Construct State-of-the-Art Library in Kazakhstans Oil Capital

ALMATY, Kazakhstan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Marussya Assaubayeva Foundation, a charity focused on the development of social and cultural projects in Kazakhstan, will construct a library at the countrys leading university specialising in oil and gas. The new facility will provide students at Atyrau Oil and Gas University with a comfortable, state-of-the-art space to study, as well as access to specialist literature and industry-focused international periodicals. The library is scheduled to open later this year.

Located on the border of Europe and Asia, Atyrau is home to two large universities, no fewer than ten vocational institutions, and many schools. Each year hundreds of students come to Atyrau from across the country to pursue their studies. Recognising the scientific capabilities of today’s youth and their desire for a quality education, the Foundation decided to build a state-of-the-art library at Atyrau Oil and Gas University, the country’s most prestigious educational institution specialised in the field.

With a total area of 2,177 square metres, the new library will be a multifunctional educational space that will combine infrastructure for accessing knowledge and information; tools for communication, study, creativity and recreation; and equipment for creating and consuming content (multimedia, text and graphics). In fact, it will be an information-driven facility that will enable all residents of the city to engage in educational pursuits. The multifunctional library will provide online access to libraries at the best technical universities in the world. Additions to the university’s book stock will make it one of the largest in the country.

While searching for a building for the future library, it was important to take into account not only the architectural and functional aspects of the site but also its geographical location. The Foundation ultimately settled on the building of the former Atyrau student centre.

The spatial solutions for the Library will create a comfortable and intellectually rich environment that will be conducive both to the in-depth study of a variety of subjects and to the exchange of ideas. The library will also play an important role in Atyrau’s city infrastructure, being a place where students can carve out their future paths in a comfortable and modern environment.
