The Traitors Season 2 Finale Explained: Winners, Prize Money, and Oustings

The #TraitorsS2Finale, which streamed on Peacock on March 7, 2024, concluded with Faithfuls CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella winning the total prize pot of $208,100. The dramatic season finale saw the elimination of the last remaining Traitor, Kate Chastain, followed by a controversial final vote that ousted Faithful Mercedes “MJ” Javid. By successfully identifying all Traitors before ending the game, CT and Trishelle split the grand cash earnings equally, receiving $104,050 each.

Who Won The Traitors Season 2 Finale?

The finale of Peacock’s hit reality competition series The Traitors Season 2 delivered a thrilling resolution for fans. Faithfuls CT Tamburello (famous for MTV’s The Challenge) and Trishelle Cannatella (known from The Real World: Las Vegas) emerged victorious as the season’s sole winning players. Entering the final episode, five contestants remained inside Ardross Castle: CT Tamburello, Trishelle Cannatella, Mercedes “MJ” Javid, Shereé Whitfield, and Kate Chastain.

During the initial Round Table gathering in the finale, the group voted to banish Shereé Whitfield, who subsequently revealed herself as a Faithful. Following another strategic push led by CT and Trishelle, the players successfully unmasked and banished Kate Chastain, who was the final Traitor active in the castle. With Chastain gone, the remaining players proceeded to the Fire of Truth, where CT and Trishelle executed a late game maneuver to eliminate MJ Javid, ensuring the entire jackpot went exclusively to their two-person alliance.

How Did the Final Round Table and Fire of Truth Work?

The endgame mechanics of The Traitors require surviving players to decide whether they believe all Traitors have been banished. At the Fire of Truth ceremony, contestants throw colored powder into a fire pit to vote either “End Game” or “Banish Again.” If all players choose to end the game, the remaining contestants reveal their secret roles. If even one Traitor remains, that Traitor claims the entire cash prize. If only Faithfuls remain, they split the money evenly.

Below is a breakdown of the final five players, their secret roles, and their ultimate outcomes in the #TraitorsS2Finale:

Why Was Mercedes “MJ” Javid Banished at the End?

The banishment of Mercedes “MJ” Javid remains one of the most discussed events of the #TraitorsS2Finale. When the final three contestants reached the Fire of Truth, MJ voted to end the game, believing that only Faithfuls remained. However, both CT and Trishelle voted to banish again, citing lingering anxiety that a Traitor might still be hidden among them.

This decision triggered a mandatory vote. In the first round of voting at the Fire of Truth, a three-way tie occurred: CT voted for MJ, MJ voted for Trishelle, and Trishelle voted for CT. Trishelle originally doubted CT due to a miscommunication during a previous banishment round involving Phaedra Parks. However, during the tiebreaker discussion, Trishelle realized CT was indeed a Faithful. On the revote, Trishelle switched her vote from CT to MJ, while CT maintained his vote for MJ. With two votes cast against her, MJ was banished immediately, leaving CT and Trishelle as the last two standing.

What Key Factors Led to the Faithful Victory in Season 2?

Unlike Season 1, which featured a mix of civilian players and reality television stars, Season 2 consisted entirely of notable reality celebrities. Host Alan Cumming oversaw a game dominated by strategic alliances, pre-existing relationships, and high-stakes social deduction. Several pivotal gameplay decisions dictated the outcome of the season finale:

• Traitor Self-Destruction: The Traitor alliance crumbled mid-season when Big Brother winner Dan Gheesling targeted fellow Traitor Phaedra Parks. This internal conflict exposed weaknesses in the Traitor group, allowing Faithfuls to systematically identify and eliminate them.
• Strategic Shield Wins: Winning defensive shields during outdoor challenges at Ardross Castle protected key Faithful players like CT from late-night murders by the Traitors.
• Decades-Long Bond: CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella shared a history spanning over 20 years from their time on MTV networks. Despite moments of friction, this foundational trust allowed them to align when the prize money was directly on the line.

What Was the Final Prize Pot in The Traitors Season 2?

Throughout the 11-episode season, contestants competed in physical and mental challenges to build the final prize pot. Out of a maximum potential grand prize of $250,000, the group earned $208,100 through successful mission completions in the Scottish Highlands. Because CT and Trishelle banished the last Traitor and successfully navigated the final Fire of Truth, they split the $208,100 total, earning $104,050 each before applicable taxes.

Where to Watch The Traitors Season 2 Reunion and Finale?

The entirety of The Traitors Season 2, including the finale episode and the explosive reunion hosted by Andy Cohen, is available for streaming exclusively on Peacock. The reunion featured intense confrontations between MJ Javid, CT Tamburello, and Trishelle Cannatella regarding the ethics of the final Fire of Truth vote, alongside discussions with executive producer Stephen Lambert about season strategy.

Fans looking forward to future seasons can also catch up on international spin-offs and previous seasons hosted by Alan Cumming on Peacock. With Season 3 officially greenlit following record-breaking viewership for the Season 2 finale, the franchise continues to establish itself as a dominant force in modern unscripted television.
