To Combat Coronavirus, iFLYTEK Receives License from the U.S. Department of Commerce

HEFEI, China–(BUSINESS WIRE)–iFLYTEK, Asia’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) and speech technology company, has received an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce to purchase medical supplies to help combat the coronavirus. Specifically, the license will enable iFLYTEK to procure basic medical supplies, including protective coveralls, surgical masks, protective eyewear, and digital thermometers.

“Since the initial outbreak of the coronavirus, iFLYTEK has mobilized its global partner network to help collect medical supplies to support the epidemic’s control and prevention campaign,” said iFLYTEK Chief Financial Officer Mr. Dawei Duan. “We are pleased that the U.S. granted this license so that we can continue to fight on the front lines against this critical global health issue.”

In addition to leveraging its global network for medical supplies, iFLYTEK has donated 10 million yuan (approximately $1.44 million) of its own AI technology and equipment to prevent the further spread of the illness. iFLYTEK’s donations include the deployment of its intelligent medical assistants to 66 districts and counties to help physicians screen high-risk patients.

iFLYTEK has donated more than 12,000 protective masks, 3,000 protective suits, and 13,000 pairs of goggles to hospitals in the Hubei Province, including Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and the Third People’s Hospital of Wuhan City to help alleviate the limited supply of medical materials. iFLYTEK has also provided its smart online classroom to primary and secondary schools in Hubei province at no cost and has dedicated 29 full-time personnel to the prevention and control of the coronavirus in Anhui.

“iFLYTEK continues to support and advocate for extensive international cooperation to help fight the coronavirus. We will continue to devote our time to help create a better world in the spirit of humanitarianism with artificial intelligence,” said Duan.

iFLYTEK employs artificial intelligence technologies and products to help primary medical institutions diagnose patients through the intelligent medical assistant and to assist relevant agencies and partners in carrying out epidemic prevention and control, follow-up visits, and communications.
