Kerala (known as God's own Country), a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It's known for its palm-lined beaches and its backwaters, a network of canals popular for cruises. Its many upscale seaside resorts include specialists in Ayurvedic treatments. Inland are the Western Ghats, a mountain range whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as abundant native wildlife.
1. Munnar

Thiruvananthapuram (or Trivandrum) is the capital of the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's distinguished by its British colonial architecture and many art galleries. It�s also home to Puthenmalika Palace, adorned with carved horses and displaying collections related to the Travancore royal family, whose regional capital was here from the 18th-20th centuries. Along its coast are the popular beaches of Shankumugham and Kovalam.
