Two Major European Service Providers Deploy RAD in First 5G Rollouts

The RAD future-proof Cell Site Gateway Allows Flexibility in Adapting to Evolving xHaul Needs.

Tel Aviv, Israel, February 13, 2019 –(PR.com)– RAD, the industry leader of Service Assured Access, today announced that its ETX-2i-10G cell site gateway has been selected for two 5G rollouts by tier-1 service providers in Europe. The ETX-2i-10G is primarily used for high-rate enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) services, and will then serve to allow the operators to support highly distributed content and applications with multiple classes of service for various end-to-end 5G slices.

We are thrilled to help leading service providers unleash the power of disruptive 5G technologies,” says Ilan Tevet, RAD’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “As 5G is essentially a moving target and operators are still formalizing their deployment plans, they face an immense pressure to make an early market impact. Early adopters are focusing on the much needed capacity increase in their transport networks as well as on cell site densification. RAD allows them to make that leap forward.”

An SDN-ready xHaul cell site gateway, RAD’s ETX-2i-10G also provides maximum flexibility by offering an open firmware that can be easily modified – post-deployment – to meet unique 5G requirements as they are being defined and standardized. This allows service providers to gain a competitive edge, while avoiding future costly forklift upgrades.

The ETX-2i-10G will be presented at MWC 2019, 25-28 February, Barcelona, The Israel Pavilion, Hall 5, Space 5E41.

About RAD
RAD is a global telecom access solutions and products vendor, enabling service providers and network operators to evolve any service over any network. By allowing mobile, business and wholesale service providers to decouple service evolution from network evolution, we assist them in migrating at a pace that is right for them. They can leverage existing resources and prolong the use of a large variety of their current legacy interfaces and equipment, as well as maintain network and service performance to guarantee user experience. In addition to providing an economical migration path to network edge virtualization, our Service Assured Access solutions are designed to deliver complete visibility for greater operational efficiency, as well as timing synchronization for LTE/LTE-A and future 5G deployments.

Founded in 1981, RAD has an installed base of more than 16 million units, and works closely with Tier 1 operators and service providers around the globe. RAD is a member of the $1.3 billion RAD Group of companies, a world leader in communications solutions. http://www.rad.com
