Upstream Welcomes ex-Fujitsu Executive to Expand Operations in Japan

Mr. Toshiya Sato will spearhead Upstream’s accelerated growth in the region; Upstream also releases the Japanese edition of its 2024 Global Automotive Cybersecurity Report


TOKYO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#automotive–Upstream Security, a leading provider of cybersecurity detection and response (XDR) for connected vehicles and IoT, announced today the appointment of Toshiya Sato as its new president in Japan. Mr. Sato will support the continued growth and expansion of Upstream’s activities in Japan. This latest appointment reinforces Upstream’s commitment to the Japanese market, providing cutting-edge cybersecurity and data management solutions aimed at safeguarding connected vehicles and IoT devices.

In his last role Mr. Sato was Executive Partner at Gartner, providing technology consultancy services to CIO and IT executives across dozens of Japanese enterprises. Prior to that, Mr. Sato held various leadership roles at Fujitsu for over 30 years. In his latest leadership position with Fujitsu, Mr. Sato served as the Head of Mobility & Logistic Global Offering, focused on supporting Japanese corporations, accelerating product development and boosting global competitiveness. Mr. Sato advocated strongly for innovation and introduced startups to the Japanese market to expand the adoption of advanced IoT, AI and cybersecurity technologies.

In addition to this new appointment, Upstream announced today the release of the Japanese edition of its 2024 Global Automotive Cybersecurity Report. This report reveals an inflection point in the global automotive cybersecurity landscape, in which high and massive scale incidents account for nearly 50 percent of all incidents and threaten millions of connected vehicles on the road.
