Online PR News 03-September-2016 VFW Post 1093 announced today that in conjunction with the Ipswich Family Y, it has launched the first formal Team Red White & Blue activities on the Northshore. Weekly bike rides leave Friday mornings from the Y parking lot at 6:30 AM. The rides are led by members of Team Red White & Blue and VFW Post 1093 and in keeping with the Team RWB ethos are inclusive of civilians, active military and veterans, and are paced to accommodate all participants.

We are so excited to offer our facility as a meeting and start point for these rides commented Chris Bevilacqua, Executive Director of the Ipswich Family YMCA. The Ys organizational goals of community engagement, fellowship and fitness mesh incredibly well with Team RWB, and Im delighted that our neighbor, VFW Post 1093 has taken a leadership role in launching this program on the NorthShore.

Ed Smith, Athletic Director for Team RWB Boston echoed Chris. Team RWB is an all volunteer movement that grows through hyper-local initiatives just like this. Between VFW Post 1093 and the Ipswich Family YMCA weve got the perfect environment to grow a vibrant program in this area where we havent been active.

Ed Marsh, Commander of VFW Post 1093 and member of Team RWB explained the goal behind launching the rides. Living in a part of the country where theres less familiarity with the military leads to some misconceptions in the community. As a post were committed to engaging with the community and building on our very unique and special partnership with the YMCA. This program is a perfect way to do both - it naturally engages veterans and civilians around the goals of health and fitness that are core values of the YMCA.

Anyone interested in joining Team RWB can do so here, and Northshore residents interested in joining the rides can follow the events postings on the Post 1093 Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VFWPost1093/.

About VFW Post 1093: Founded in 1946, VFW Post 1093 not only has members of most conflicts since WWII, but is built on a unique partnership with the YMCA of the Northshore. The VFW is physically co-located with the Ipswich Family YMCA and energetically innovates programs to support the Ipswich community as well as veterans and their families in New England and beyond. Our members joined the military for the opportunity to serve, and they join our post to continue that service in meaningful ways and to foster the comradeship which so many cherished during their time in the service. New members are welcome.
