Laos’ only hotel hailed in the Readers’ Choice Award of the prestigious magazine.
The former royal residence placed No. 9 on the list. Its first appearance as one of Asia’s top 25 hotels triumphs over big-name properties such as Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Raffles Hotel Le Royal, and Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor in Cambodia.
“This is a celebration of the Best in the World,” the Conde Nast Traveler Team said. “More than 300,000 readers submitted millions of ratings and tens of thousands of comments, sharing their recent travel experiences of the world’s cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, and airports – good or bad.”
General manager Jon Bourbaud and Villa Maly’s team were thrilled with this recognition of their endless efforts over the years.
Anchored by a colonial French villa built in 1938 by Princess Vanthatmaly, Villa Maly was painstakingly restored and transformed into an exquisite boutique hotel in 2008 with 33 rooms, a garden-inspired restaurant, a bar, a spa and a swimming pool. The hotel has continuously achieved the Traveller’s Choice Awards and the Certificate of Excellence of TripAdvisor in recent years.
