Volkswagen announces World Premiere of compact sedan, Volkswagen Ameo, in India

Volkswagen, Europe’s leading car manufacturer, today unveiled the Volkswagen Ameo, the first sub 4-metre sedan by the brand. Making its world premiere at the Delhi Motor Show, the Volkswagen Ameo will be available with two fuel options – 1.2L 3-cylinder MPI and 1.5L 4-cylinder TDI engine.

A truly global carline, the Volkswagen Ameo has been designed and engineered for the Indian market and will be manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.

Volkswagen Ameo has been designed very carefully keeping in mind the compact sedan segment in India and the Indian customer. It reflects the seamless integration of innovative proportions giving it a sporty and a dynamic stance. Continuing Volkswagen’s core design philosophy of timeless appeal and sharp, distinctive lines, Ameo has special design highlights like the front spoiler lip in body colour or the distinctive fold in the outer edges of the front bumper.

The Ameo caters to the young urban Indian who is taking tentative, hopeful steps into the most important phases of his life.

The 1.2L MPI engine will be mated to 5-speed manual gear box. While the 1.5L TDI engine will be available with 5-speed manual transmission & 7-speed DSG transmission options. For Volkswagen, safety is of paramount importance and hence, Volkswagen Ameo comes with essential safety features. All variants will come equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard. The superior build quality of Volkswagen Ameo like all Volkswagen cars will result in a brilliant combination of class leading ride quality, handling and high-speed stability.

Keeping in focus the comfort and convenience of its driver and passengers, Volkswagen Ameo will be equipped with first in segment features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers along with static cornering lights and the dynamic Touchscreen multimedia music system with Mirror link, I-pod connectivity, phonebook / SMS viewer.
