“We Celebrate!” Invitation to an International Textile Community Project

For 100 years, women have been allowed to vote in Germany, Quilt around the Worlds home country. In some countries womens suffrage was introduced earlier, in others much later. Even today, women (and men) are still not allowed to vote at all or only with restrictions in many countries, or to have themselves elected.

Munich, Germany, May 09, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The online portal Quilt around the World takes this important milestone for democracy and equal rights as an opportunity for a new international textile community project.

All quilters and textile crafters worldwide, whether beginners, occasional quilters or professionals, are invited to take part in this textile celebration and take a look back at the successful path already taken, while at the same time thinking about their current personal and societal situation and the future challenges.

The task of the participants is to freely interpret and translate their creative ideas on the topic of "women's rights, equality and freedom" into a textile patchwork block and thus become part of an international and intercultural quilting project.

There are several block formats and sizes to choose from and no restrictions on patterns, techniques, textile materials and embellishments used. Only the colour purple must be included in the block. The design of the block motif must be original, i.e. designed by the participants themselves, and thus copyright-free. In addition to the patchwork block, a short description of the inspiration for the chosen motif and the underlying motivation shall be submitted.

From all the blocks submitted, a joint textile piece will be created, which will be shown at regional, national and international quilting events.

Participation in this non-commercial community project is free of charge.

The closing date for submitting the sewn blocks is 29 February 2020.
