Brad Pitt Returns in Cliff Booth Sequel as Fincher and Tarantino Detail Off-Screen Rescue

Netflix has released the official trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, revealing a twisty plot set in Hollywood’s 1977 criminal underworld. Brad Pitt reprises his role as the stuntman protagonist in the film, which was directed by David Fincher and written by Quentin Tarantino. The crime thriller serves as a direct follow-up to Tarantino’s 2019 movie Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Netflix has set an IMAX theatrical release date of November 25, giving the film a 19-day exclusive window in theaters before its streaming debut on the platform. However, the theatrical rollout will not include major chains Regal and Cinemark, which declined to carry the film’s IMAX release.
The movie reached production only after a major behind-the-scenes rescue. Quentin Tarantino originally wrote the script with plans to direct it himself, but later chose to step away from the director’s seat. In his first joint interview with Fincher, Tarantino revealed that leaving his own screenplay behind made him feel bad about letting down Brad Pitt. Rather than allowing the script to be shelved, Pitt and Fincher intervened to keep the project alive, with Fincher taking over directorial duties. The project marks another high-profile team-up for the actor and director, whose previously canceled sequel World War Z 2 also received a promising update ahead of this Netflix release.
Box office performance and personal developments
In cinemas, Brad Pitt is currently starring in Heart Of The Beast. The film has faced a tough commercial run at the worldwide box office, yet its box office total has officially surpassed Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic film as it approaches a major global earnings milestone.
Off-screen, Pitt’s family dynamics have drawn recent attention following a decision in Los Angeles court. His 18-year-old daughter, Vivienne, legally removed his surname after a Los Angeles judge formally approved her name change petition. Reports surrounding the actor indicate he continues an ongoing effort to reconnect with his children, with sources pointing to the upcoming Christmas holiday season as a key period for potential contact.
Media coverage has also revisited past statements made by Pitt regarding his personal life. Comments from an interview on Oprah resurfaced, in which Pitt spoke warmly about ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, saying there isn’t a single malicious bone in her body and noting that she taught him a lot. The remarks have resurfaced in context with the media narrative surrounding his subsequent affair with Angelina Jolie and his surprise reunion with Aniston years later. Meanwhile, the actor’s physical appearance remains a topic of discussion. On the March 9 episode of his program, celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow offered commentary on why the 62-year-old actor continues to look as though he is in his 30s.
The immediate focus for audiences remains the upcoming launch of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. The film begins its limited IMAX run on November 25, followed 19 days later by its global release on Netflix.
