Edgecore Networks Launches VEWS to Enhance Resource Utilization, ROI, and Network Security for Enterprises/Telcos/ISPs/MSPs

HSINCHU, Taiwan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Edgecore Networks, a leading provider of traditional and open network solutions for enterprises, data centers, and telecommunication service providers, today announced the launch of a new virtual wireless LAN controller series, VEWS, to provide enterprises/telcos/ISPs/MSPs with unparallel scalability, superior deployment flexibility, and centralized management of the entire wireless network from a single pane of glass, bringing a new level of simplicity and hardware independence to the wireless LAN, and significantly reducing CAPEX and OPEX.

VEWS combines the power of virtualization with Edgecore’s bestselling WLAN gateway-controller, creating a virtual WLAN controller that can be seamlessly integrated with any existing VMware infrastructure, such as servers and personal computers, and cloud computing resources to provide much-needed hardware independence while offering the same functionality as a physical controller, all without the added expense of new hardware or the hassle of worrying about compatibility issues. With VEWS, organizations can optimize their network infrastructure and streamline their operations with ease, ensuring a more efficient and cost-effective approach to wireless network management.

The VM form factor makes VEWS easy to scale dynamically to support the needs of a rapidly growing network environment, enabling much more efficient use of resources, and minimizing deployment costs with maximum deployment flexibility. The VEWS series includes four different models—VEWS5203, VEWS5204, VEWS5207 and VEWS1000—that can cater to different deployment scale needs and manage up to 100,000 concurrent users and 10,000 devices. Transform your computing and IT investments into an optimized resource utilization powerhouse with VEWS. VEWS empowers enterprises/telcos/ISPs/MSPs to enhance their resource allocation, driving significant improvements in efficiency and productivity. VEWS can achieve improved ROI and maintain wireless network security and stability, ensuring a smooth and secure operation.

VEWS simplifies network management by consolidating AP management, user authentication, policy assignment, traffic shaping, firewall features, and more into a single, user-friendly windowpane. With a centralized management console for your entire wireless network infrastructure, network administrators can enjoy seamless and reliable control over their network operations, without the need for complex setups or multiple management tools.

Feature Highlights

• Fast and seamless integration into existing network infrastructure
• Comprehensive wireless services and management through a single point of control
• A self-defined HA backup mechanism, compared to an appliance-based controller, which greatly reduces limitations
• Balancing the need for security and privacy
• AAA features, user management, and VPN tunnel
• CAPWAP tunnel – split and full tunnel functions

“With the Edgecore VEWS series, the need for a single-purpose appliance is eliminated. Now end users are not locked into a single piece of hardware, reducing costs, space requirements, and other overheads,” said Tengtai Hsu, Vice President of Edgecore Networks. “The combination of cost-effective virtualization with high-performance advanced wireless services, unmatched scalability, superior deployment flexibility, and centralized management empowers enterprises, telcos, ISPs, and MSPs to achieve unprecedented simplicity, cost-efficiency, and hardware independence.”
