Google launches tool to help Chennai residents

Amid Chennai’s battle against waterlogged roads and drenched homes, Google has extended its support to the city and has created the Crisis Response tool. Thanks to Google for the same.

The tool provides users with access to emergency helpline numbers; crowdsourced list of places and offering shelter; maps of crowdsourced flooded streets and other such important information. It also offers important tweets, updated and videos on Chennai .

Google spreadsheet has emerged as a help in promoting relief and rescue-related information in Chennai. This Google spreadsheet also provides detailed information about where locals can find help in the form of shelter, , and other basic necessities.

The document, which has been shared extensively on social media in the last two days, gives details on close to 220 locations in the city where people in need can take refuge, and the curator advises people to make quick updates so that more and more users can give their inputs here.
