Lianhua Qingwen Capsules Launched in Philippine Market, a New Era of TCM Application in Pandemic Prevention and Control

SHIJIAZHUANG CITY, China–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On November 23, 2020, a news conference was held for the launching of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules in the Philippine market, which marks that Lianhua Qingwen has officially come into the Philippine market.

ANCX, a Philippine media, reported this issue and said, Perhaps one of the good things that came out of the COVID-19 pandemic is that people have rediscovered traditional Chinese medicine, or found a new appreciation for it, how it can be effective, affordable, and helpful for our countrymen, especially those with low purchasing power.”

Why is the magic traditional Chinese medicine capable of helping the Filipinos fight against this COVID-19?

In fact, TCM has been fighting against epidemics for a long history. Zhang Zhongjing in the Eastern Han Dynasty (about 1,800 years ago) invented a decoction called Maxing Shigan Decoction, which he found was pretty effective for treating the exogenous infectious diseases; Wu Youke in Ming Dynasty (about 500 years ago) discussed plague diseases in the book of Treatise on Pestilence, and proposed that rhubarb could be used for the early treatment; Ye Tianshi in Qing Dynasty (about 300 years ago) suggested that lonicerae and forsythiae powder was a good prescription for exogenous febrile diseases. The research and development of Lianhua Qingwen has drawn experience from the above three famous prescriptions, and through a lot of clinical researches, Lianhua Qingwen is proven to have good curative effects on different types of respiratory infectious diseases.

Lianhua Qingwen was invented during the outbreak of SARS in 2003. It was proven in different researches that Lianhua Qingwen can obviously inhibit the replication of SARS virus. When COVID-19 was very serious in China, Lianhua Qingwen also became the most recommended traditional Chinese medicine by the Chinese authorities and has been widely used in treatment of mild and moderate cases. The launch of Lianhua Qingwen in the Philippines marks that an herbal therapeutic method from China for Covid-19 has become available, which has opened a new era of using TCM for pandemic prevention and control.

It is reported that the registration number of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules in the Philippines is THPR-50 and the product category is traditional herbal drugs. The Philippine consumers can now buy this drug in South Star Drug, Watson and Mercury Drug.
