Norris takes pole as wet qualifying reshapes the F1 Brazil GP at Interlagos

Lando Norris took pole for the F1 Brazil GP after a chaotic, rain-hit qualifying session at Interlagos, the Independent reported. The session was delayed as well as wet, and Norris finished top of the leaderboard amid heavy rain; BBC then said Norris and George Russell were hoping for more rain for the race itself. That request is the sign of a session the drivers read as wet track, changing grip and an opportunity for whoever judged it best.

The F1 Brazil GP is round 20 of the 2026 season at the famous Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo, the Independent said when publishing the grid. Crash.Net posted the full qualifying results from the wet and delayed session at the 2026 F1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, while GPFans published the times and positions for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The useful distinction is that qualifying results give times and positions, while the published grid gives the legal starting order after penalties.

Wet qualifying hands Norris pole

The pre-race notes for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos were billed around what to watch for. The Race answered in part with a winners-and-losers read of F1 2026 Brazilian GP qualifying, a session reduced to a narrow question by the weather. BBC made the driver reaction concrete: Norris and Russell wanted more rain, not a clearing track, for the race after wet qualifying.

Who makes the Brazilian GP starting grid?

The published starting grid is not simply the qualifying order. F1 Chronicle published the starting grid after five penalties, which means the Brazilian GP order already includes five moves before the race has run. The Independent listed the starting positions for the Brazilian Grand Prix, and Athlon Sports published a full starting grid with the qualifying schedule and race preview. Crash.Net’s full session results and GPFans’ times and positions record who advanced in the wet; F1 Chronicle’s grid list and Athlon Sports’ preview look ahead to the race. So one document shows competitive performance in changing conditions, and another shows where the cars line up once five penalties are applied.

Camara’s first Interlagos qualifying

GPFans made Rafael Camara the Brazilian detail in the session. Camara was driving in his first F1 qualifying session, and it was his first time at Interlagos in any series. He still reached Q2, and he was the only Brazilian through that stage. For a debutant on both counts, the cut matters as much as the lap time: reaching Q2 at Interlagos on debut in a wet session is a clearer result than one clean sector. The same reports note that Gabriel Bortoleto clanged, but the session record that stands is Camara’s Q2 place as the sole Brazilian survivor of the opening cut.

How to watch the Brazilian GP from India

Mathrubhumi English starts with the clock problem: because of the time difference with Brazil, fans in India need evening and late-night slots to watch the action live. It dated Free Practice 1 to Friday, November 6. Sporting News says it has streaming options, TV coverage details and the race start time for fans in India. Athlon Sports covers TV channels and streaming platforms for qualifying and the race, with international start times. Gizmodo points to free live streams, includes start times in ET and PT, and mentions watching from anywhere with a VPN. Those are three viewing routes aimed at different addressees: India in Sporting News, ET and PT in Gizmodo, and international start times in Athlon Sports. The practical marker for Indian viewers is the same one Mathrubhumi used for FP1: plan for an evening or late-night slot when the Brazilian GP race starts.
