Obi Worldphone SF1 With Full-HD Display, 13-MP Camera Launched at Rs. 11,999

A worthy mid-ranger designed in San Francisco. Obi Worldphone, which is backed by former Apple CEO John Sculley, has launched its new smartphone – the SF1 – in India. The phone will be exclusively available on Gadgets360 starting on December 7.

The Obi SF1 sports a 5 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels, 443 ppi) JDI In-Cell, IPS display. The display is raised from the rest of the front face and uses Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 screen for protection. It is a fully-laminated, OGS display that also comes with an oleophobic coating to avoid fingerprints (to a certain level).

The design is pretty minimalist and sports just two buttons, the power/unlock button and the volume control rocker (which can also be used as a shutter button when using the camera) on the left. On the right side, we have the SIM card tray slot that is a hybrid one, which accepts both a second SIM or a micro SD card slot.

The smartphone will be available in two variants – one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage and another with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The former is priced at Rs 11,999, while the latter at Rs 13,999. Both phones support a microSD card of up to 64 GB.

Obi Worldphone was earlier known by the name of Obi Mobiles before it was rebranded this year. Under Obi Mobiles, the company last year had introduced a couple of devices in India, but they failed to make a mark in the country.

The Obi Worldphone SF1 sports a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor, and f/2.0 aperture. There is a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash also on board. The dual-SIM (Micro+Nano SIM cards) based Obi Worldphone SF1 smartphone comes with dual microphones for noise cancellation, Dolby Audio, and Quick Charge 1.0 for fast charging. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery and features an accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor. It measures 146x74x8mm and weighs 147 grams.
