Philanthropic, Medical and Technical Professionals Join Forces to Form Breath for Life

New Non-Profit to Manage Donation of 100 Oxygen Devices to Struggling Healthcare Workers Globally

IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#COVIDBreath for Life, a non-profit organization recently formed by a consortium of concerned medical and technical professionals and philanthropists, has launched an initiative to address the ongoing and increasing needs for respiratory products in developing nations such as India, Thailand and other countries to assist healthcare workers and physicians managing critically ill patients suffering from COVID-19.

The formation of the group was triggered by Ken Wang, Co-Founder and Chairman of Telesair, a medical device manufacturer based in Irvine, California.

At Telesair we are focused daily on developing innovative solutions for the treatment of respiratory conditions,” said Wang. “It’s in our DNA to provide breathing solutions for healthcare workers and patients under duress. In the wake of the tragic situations taking place in India, Thailand and other hot spots around the world right now due to the COVID pandemic, we had to step up and do something to help. We want to invest in caring for the world — and Telesair, alongside the colleagues, friends and fellow philanthropists and volunteers who have joined us to form Breath for Life, can do our part.”

“Respiratory health is severely compromised by COVID-19 in patients who contract the virus and respond poorly,” said Stephen Tunnell, a registered respiratory therapist and co-founder/leader of Breath for Life and its initiatives. “The treatment of patients involves the provision of oxygen and in the worst cases, mechanical ventilator care. Devices such as high-flow nasal cannula therapy and mechanical ventilators are in short supply in developing countries.”

“We want to assist those struggling in the fight against the pandemic so we have accelerated our efforts to enable us to swiftly donate 100 High Flow oxygen medical device units to this cause,” said Bryan Liu, CEO of Telesair. “We hope other concerned organizations and individuals will come forward to join us or match us in these efforts.”

Breath for Life is seeking further assistance from volunteers and philanthropists to accomplish its goals. Donations of medical supplies, shipping, and logistical assistance are also needed.
