SL vs HK: Sri Lanka XI vs Hong Kong XI 7th/8th Place Play-off, Hong Kong Sixes 2026

SL vs HK is the Sri Lanka XI versus Hong Kong XI match organised as the 7th/8th place play-off of the Plate competition at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 cricket tournament. The same fixture is listed as SL vs HKC, with a live stream, squad announcements and a dedicated match page carried by Cricbuzz and BDCricTime. The currently published headlines do not state a kickoff time, venue or result for the game.

What is the SL vs HK match?

In match coverage, SL vs HK simply denotes Sri Lanka versus Hong Kong. In the current context it refers to the play-off that decides seventh and eighth place in the Plate bracket of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026. Because the fixture sits in the Plate rather than the Bowl, it settles the lower half of the final standings instead of the championship.

Elsewhere in the same tournament, England and India contest the Bowl Semi Final 2, while Sri Lanka’s previous reported tie was against Oman in Plate Semi Final 1. The play-off between Sri Lanka XI and Hong Kong XI is therefore a classification game, not a title decider.

How did each team reach the play-off?

Sri Lanka’s path runs through the Plate knockout rounds: the team’s most recent reported match before this fixture was the Plate Semi Final 1 showdown against Oman, which carries a published scorecard listing. Landing in a 7th/8th place play-off means Sri Lanka did not advance beyond that stage of the Plate bracket.

Hong Kong’s route into the play-off is not described in the available match listings, so its results on the way to this tie cannot be confirmed from current sources.

Why is the match called both ‘SL vs HK’ and ‘SL vs HKC’?

Different outlets label the Hong Kong side differently. Cricbuzz lists the play-off as SL vs HKC, while BDCricTime carries the same tie as Sri Lanka XI vs Hong Kong XI. Both refer to the single 7th/8th place Plate play-off at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026.

What stage of the tournament is this fixture?

The fixture is explicitly the 7th/8th place play-off within the Plate competition of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, meaning it is a classification game played once the Plate rounds ahead of it have eliminated both participants.

What is the Hong Kong Sixes format?

What does ‘Sixes’ mean?

The Hong Kong Sixes is a fast-paced, six-a-side cricket tournament staged in Hong Kong. As the name suggests, each side fields six players rather than the eleven used in standard international cricket, which produces short, high-tempo matches. The 2026 edition has drawn international sides: England, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Oman all appear in the reported fixture list.

What are the Plate and Bowl brackets?

The 2026 coverage shows more than one competition running inside the tournament. The Bowl bracket hosts Semi Final 2 between England and India, while the Plate bracket has hosted Semi Final 1 between Sri Lanka and Oman plus the SL vs HK 7th/8th place play-off. Teams that exit early typically drop into classification contests such as the Plate, which then settles finishing positions like seventh and eighth.

Is there a scorecard or result yet?

None of the current headlines publish a SL vs HK result or scorecard. The related scorecards reported so far cover England vs India in Bowl Semi Final 2 and Sri Lanka vs Oman in Plate Semi Final 1. An outcome for the play-off will appear in the same fixture listings once the match is completed.

SL vs HK match card at a glance

What is at stake in this play-off?

The game decides which side is recorded seventh and which is eighth in the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 standings. Neither team can win the tournament from this fixture, because the Bowl bracket, where England and India are still contesting Semi Final 2, decides the higher positions. For both sides it remains a winnable match with a clear reward: a higher official finishing position.

Once played, the SL vs HK result finalises the Plate pecking order for Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. Until then, the confirmed picture is straightforward — two sides, one Plate play-off, and seventh place on the line against eighth.
