Telangana CEO faces pressure over unpaid poll bills and 82% voter backlog

The Telangana CEO is facing pressure on two election-administration fronts at once. Deputy collectors want unpaid bills from the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections cleared, along with approval of extra funds for excess expenses, while 82 per cent of graduate voter applications for the state’s MLC polls remain unprocessed.
Election bills and graduate applicant backlog
The Telangana Deputy Collectors’ Association has urged the CEO to clear bills still pending from the 2023 Assembly election and the 2024 Lok Sabha election, The Times of India reported. The association has also asked the CEO to approve extra funds for excess expenses from those two polls. It’s a demand that combines an accounting request with a fresh funding request, putting both before the same state election office.
The MLC backlog covers 82 per cent of graduate voter applications, The New Indian Express reported. Those applications have yet to be processed. The CEO has set a November 6 deadline for graduates to register in the constituency. That fixed closing date gives applicants in the unprocessed group a narrow window to complete enrollment.
The CEO’s office is also defending its conduct of electoral roll revision. The CEO has said that due procedures were followed in the SIR, while social media users have rejected the assurance by alleging deletions and lapses. Some have called the process a sham, The Hindu reported. The criticism arrives while graduate registrations are still being processed.
Telangana’s wider political calendar
The complaints against the CEO arrive as Telangana prepares a summit and several welfare launches. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reviewed plans in Hyderabad for the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, which will feature defence, pharma, education and startup expos. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has chaired a high-level review of the preparations and said top companies are showing strong interest in the summit. Registrations are open.
Telangana is due to launch a family insurance scheme on November 19. The scheme provides ₹5 lakh of family life insurance cover and will be launched alongside Indiramma housing celebrations and new SC/ST commissions. The announcement also carried updates on judicial posts and fire service. The Cabinet has separately approved ₹4,193 crore for repairs to the Kaleshwaram barrage and has cleared two welfare schemes for launch in Siddipet on the same day. In Khammam, 10 SDRF personnel were brought safely ashore after strong flood currents, with the TPCC chief praising the officials involved. The TPCC chief described their courage, commitment and dedication as commendable.
November 6 is the immediate date to watch for the CEO’s office, when registration for graduate voters closes. After that, the outstanding graduate applications and the Deputy Collectors’ Association’s request for bill clearance and extra funds remain live items for the CEO, even as the state turns to its November 19 launches.
