The Summer Season is Safe for Sufferers of “Swimmers Shoulder” Thanks to ASAlaser Therapies

The ASAlaser therapeutic solutions are an effective answer in order to successfully treat one of the most common issues for freestyle and backstroke lovers. Hilterapia and MLS® provide a fast reduction in pain and a speedy recovery of the joint’s action.

Vicenza, Italy, July 22, 2018 –(PR.com)– Summer is here, it’s time for swimming: among the main activities during the hot season which take the lion’s share we have freestyle, breaststroke, dolphin crawl, but also backstroke and butterfly. This is also confirmed by the numbers: in Italy for example, heading offshore with steady strokes is an army of 3 and a half million people (ISTAT “The practice of sports in Italy”), mainly women between the ages of 25 and 75 (30%) who do not want to forego swimming, even in winter, thanks to its benefits. Plunging into water in fact offers plusses which no other aerobic exercise can give: getting the whole of the body to work with no heavy impact on the osteoarticular system; toning up muscles and healing sore joints; strengthening the heart and improving blood circulation throughout the body; keeping arteries flexible by ensuring they contract and expand more frequently and rapidly; adjusting blood glucose levels and assisting weight loss, favouring a good mood thanks to the release of endorphins.

All that glitters is not gold however: an excessive workout or overloading the anatomical structures involved in the athletic movement can give rise to a series of issues which primarily involve the shoulders, the predestined victims of trauma or degenerative problems such as – among others – rotator cuff tears. Nicknamed “swimmer’s shoulder” in the sports world, in addition to having to deal with high pain levels, muscle contractures and a limited functionality, this issue also has a significant impact on the quality of life and on the daily activities of sufferers. Because of the pain, swimmers consequently tend to use the joint as little as possible, until it is progressively brought to a standstill. The result? The shoulder, as if it were “frozen,” ends up making all movements impossible.

In order to get back to swimming, the recommended therapy associates functional rehabilitation, manual and instrumental treatments. Laser Therapy has been proved to be effective for a speedy recovery of the compromised function. In particular, ASAlaser’s therapeutic solutions, Hilterapia® and MLS® Laser Therapy, have confirmed their value through a vast range of case histories.

More specifically, Hilterapia®, based on the use of an Nd:YAG pulsed laser source whose emission characteristics have been patented and designed to effectively reach the deepest tissues, determines a significant pain, inflammation and oedema reduction from the first session, in addition to an evident improvement of the joint’s functionality. Healing processes at the forefront also for MLS®, which, by using diode laser sources, whose emission features are patented and scientifically designed to obtain an effective energy mix as concerns biological interactions, therapeutic effects and safety of treatment, is a boon for limiting both the acute and the chronic pain linked to tendon lesions and tendinopathies.

Credit to the two therapies in solving shoulder issues, including rotary cuff tear, is provided by two researches carried out by international teams: “Short-term Effects of High-Intensity Laser Therapy Versus Ultrasound Therapy in the Treatment of People With Subacromial Impingement Syndrome: A Randomized Clinical Trial” and “MLS® Laser Therapy in the treatment of patients affected by Tendinopathies.” The first underlines how patients affected by subacromial shoulder impingement syndrome showed a greater pain reduction and a more marked improvement of the shoulder joint functionality and muscular strength after treatment with Hilterapia® compared with others treated by ultrasound. The second confirms that MLS® can be applied effectively for controlling pain and improving the functionality of various types of tendinopathy, including of the shoulder.
