Xiaomi launches Redmi Note Prime at Rs 8,499; A Made in India phone

Xiaomi has unveiled its new smartphone in India dubbed Redmi Note Prime at a price of Rs 8,499. The device will be exclusively available on Amazon.in and Mi.com, starting 10am on 15th December. In line with the �Make in India’ plan, this would be the first smartphone manufactured in India. It would also be the second Mi phone to be manufactured in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with Foxconn Technology Group. This is the second Made in India Phone from Xiaomi. The First Made in India phone from Xiaomi was Redmi Prime.

The device features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB RAM. It includes an internal storage of 16GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The smartphone comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera. The Redmi Note Prime runs on Android 4.4 KitKat-based MIUI 7. On the connectivity front, the device sports GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, Bluetooth v4.0, FM radio, microUSB 2.0, USB-OTG and GPS/ A-GPS. A 3100mAh battery completes the package.
