Yamaha unveils all new scooter “Cygnus RAY-ZR”

Cygnus RAY-ZRYamaha unveils all new scooter "Cygnus RAY-ZR", more focus to live up to the youth of India, showcases its DNA of sports, style and technological prowess.

The 13th edition of the signature event of the Indian Auto industry- Auto Expo 2016, got off to a great start for India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., as it unveiled an all new scooter "Cygnus Ray-ZR" for the Indian market and put on display one of the most exciting and innovative collection of products at the Yamaha pavilion. The theme of the Yamaha pavilion this year focuses on connecting with the youth to bring out the essence of the brand - "WE ARE YOUNG".

The Cygnus Ray-ZR, is the latest addition to Yamaha's line of two-wheeler products. Developed around the concept of a 'Next-Generation Real Man's Scooter', the Cygnus Ray-ZR is high on style and bravura. This product includes a design with a fresh look and characterized by the sense of dynamism. The major attraction of the day is the unveiling of the front disk brake variant.

The new "Cygnus Ray-ZR" scooter is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve 113cc "BLUE CORE" engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) unit. It features a lightweight body (103 kg) with glamorous design and offers user-friendliness. The main features also include 1) an engine with high combustion efficiency to offer among the best fuel efficiency in its class 2) The disk brake version features cast aluminum wheels 3) Plenty of storage space (21-litre capacity under seat storage) 4) Newly designed instrument cluster with excellent readability, even at night. The Cygnus Ray-ZR will also have another variant with drum brakes. Both the variants will come in 2 eye-catching colors each to satisfy the needs of trend-conscious young riders.

This Auto Expo will be closely followed by the introduction of Yamaha's next exciting product line of new color variants for YZF-R15 version 2.0 and Yamaha SZ-RR as a part of the brand's continuous product innovation. The YZF-R15 version 2.0 is priced at INR 1,18,373/- (Ex showroom in Delhi) and is available in Revving Blue, Adrenaline Red and Sparky Green colors. Yamaha SZ-RR is priced at INR 67,664/- (Ex showroom in Delhi) and is available in Matt Green color.

The year 2015 was a highly successful year for Yamaha as it witnessed a 5 percent growth rate despite a sluggish market. This can be attributed to the company's innovative ongoing customer-centric activities and exciting product lineup including the Yamaha Saluto, Fascino and YZF-R3 which continue to strengthen their position with great sales numbers across the country. In the domestic market, the company sold 5.94 lakh units of two wheelers in 2015 and aims to sell 8 lakh units in 2016.
