Local Education Consultant Joins National Professional Association

Amsterdam, Netherlands, July 10, 2019 –(PR.com)– The Independent Education Consultants Association, (IECA), today announced Lauren Joyce Hensel, LAUNCH Education Advisors, of Hilversum, the Netherlands, has been accepted as an Associate Member in the association. IECA associate members are professionals in the process of transitioning to a career in educational counseling. To qualify, as an associate member, a consultant must have established an educational consulting practice and have had a minimum of one year�s experience in education placement, counseling, or admissions.

Formerly Lauren was the Director of Admissions and Marketing at Morgan Park Academy, Association Athletic Director, Director of Athletic and Performing Arts Admissions, and Head Men’s Volleyball Coach at Robert Morris University Illinois, and Senior Admission Counselor at Illinois Institute of Technology.

Since 2017, she has worked as a Project Manager and Athletic Mentor in Amsterdam, but chose to focus full time on LAUNCH in 2019. She primarily works with third culture families, student-athletes (specifically rowing, volleyball, rugby, and eSports), and twice exceptional students. She is also a member of the International Association of College Admissions Counseling.

Lauren has been an independent educational consultant (IEC) since January 2019. Her office is located in Hilversum, the Netherlands – about 20 minutes outside Amsterdam. Lauren is a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology, BS and MPA, and pursuing Certificate in College Counseling from the University of California Irvine.

The IECA was founded in 1976 was a nonprofit, professional association of established educational consultants. IECA member educational consultants are professionals who assist students and families with educational decision-making. Their educational backgrounds, specialized training, campus visitations, and professional experience equip them to help students choose schools, colleges, or programs that meet their individual needs and goals.

Professional Membership in the association requires an appropriate master’s degree or comparable training and a minimum of three years experience in the profession, as well as meeting IECA’s professional standards and subscribing to its Principles of Good Practice. Members continually update their knowledge and maintain skills through IECA-sponsored meetings, workshops, webinars, training programs, and information exchanges with colleges, schools, programs and other consultants.
