Pensioners Face November 30 Deadline for Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has launched its fifth nationwide campaign for the submission of annual life certificates, setting a firm deadline of November 30 for central and state retirees across India. Under the program guidelines, pensioners aged 80 and above were granted an early submission window, while all other eligible retirees can generate their verification documents starting November 1.

With this fifth campaign edition, the central government is aiming for 100 percent pensioner coverage across all states and union territories. The drive focuses on expanding digital participation so that advanced age, physical mobility challenges, or remote geographical locations do not prevent retirees from securing their monthly disbursements. Pensioners registered under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) must also complete their life certificate filings by November 30 to maintain uninterrupted payouts.

Face Authentication System for Jeevan Pramaan

Pensioners across the country can now submit their Digital Life Certificate from home without visiting a bank branch, post office, or government department. The facility operates through the Jeevan Pramaan mobile app, which uses Aadhaar-based face authentication technology to verify a retiree’s identity directly on a smartphone. The system eliminates physical travel requirements for senior citizens, particularly those aged 80 and above who face severe mobility constraints.

To complete the submission through the Jeevan Pramaan app, pensioners install the software, enter their pension details, and perform a live face scan. The app matches the visual data against Aadhaar database records to validate identity. Once verified, the digital certificate generates automatically and updates government pension records without requiring paper forms or personal appearances before bank officers.

Local Campaign Drives Across Nagaland Districts

District administrative bodies across Nagaland are conducting targeted field operations as part of the nationwide campaign running through November 30. In Chümoukedima district, the Deputy Commissioner issued an official notification informing local pensioners about the nationwide campaign and directing them to adopt the digital submission format. DIPR Nagaland and the Nagaland Tribune reported that local authorities launched the district drive to ensure every local retiree completes verification on time.

Parallel activities are taking place in Mokokchung district, where administration teams are assisting elderly residents with mobile face authentication scans. MokokchungTimes.com reported that the Nagaland-wide campaign aims to reach pensioners living in the state’s remotest corners who previously had to travel long distances to urban banking centers to clear their annual paperwork.

Submission Rules for UPS Pensioners via Jeevan Setu

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has issued specific instructions for retirees covered under the Unified Pension Scheme. Business Standard and Outlook Money reported that UPS pensioners must submit their annual proof of life by November 30 to ensure their monthly payments continue without interruption.

UPS retirees can complete the process online through the Jeevan Setu portal or the Protean eGov mobile app. The Protean app uses Aadhaar-based face authentication similar to the main Jeevan Pramaan platform. Pensioners enter their pension information, undergo facial scanning, and generate an authenticated digital certificate online without visiting pension disbursing agencies.

Resolving Verification Errors and Rejections

During the annual verification rush, some submitted certificates are rejected due to technical glitches or record mismatches. News18 reported that rejections occur frequently during peak filing periods, but affected pensioners can rectify the underlying issues to prevent pension delays.

Common reasons for rejection include mismatched Aadhaar demographic details, inaccurate Pension Payment Order (PPO) numbers, or failed facial scans caused by poor lighting. If a Digital Life Certificate gets rejected, pensioners can correct the flagged data and re-submit their verification through the mobile application. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare recommended completing filings early in the campaign period so any rejected submissions can be resolved before the November 30 cutoff.
